DINING IN MACGREGOR'S BARN
We offer dining opportunities -lunch or dinner- in our 17th Century barn for up to 50 diners which also has a minstrels’ gallery for the band for after dinner ceilidh dancing and the adjoining Stables Bar has been used for many good post dinner sessions. The venue can be used for any themed event from Burns supper nights to parties and dances. Your meal can be part of a day of activities at the farm, including clay pigeon shooting, archery, canoeing on Loch Ard, mountain biking, highland games and, of course sheepdog displays or farm tours.
A Great Venue for a Great Night
As sheep farmers, prime Scotch lamb is always on the menu. Haggis as a starter or taster can be featured, accompanied by the haggis ceremony which can involve two guests as kilted escorts. Live musical entertainment is by the Wood family involving small pipes, Bodhran harmonica and guitar to accompany the vocals with audience participation.
The venue has changed little since Rob Roy came of age in it at the Feast of the Hairst Kirn in October 1689, just a few months after he and some 50 clansmen from our Strath had fought at the bloody battle of Killiecrankie. Weapons and paintings from the Jacobite wars decorate the walls in the barn and the stories get better as the night wears on!
